The Ugly Truth

I had to face an ugly truth this week. I'm out of shape. I taught step aerobics on Thursday night. Normally, teaching a step class is not a big deal, but I was sucking air. I kept looking at the clock thinking, "How many more minutes do I have to go?????"

I've been teaching a lot of aerobics--at least three classes a week--which is more than I usually teach. However, I've been focused on the fitness of others when I teach rather than my own fitness. Although I've been on my spin bike, I have to admit I haven't really been pushing myself. I've just been going through the motions. And I have not been running regularly.

Here is the scary part. Bill's dad signed me up for an 8k race on April 16. Sooooo...I need to get back outside on the trails and on the treadmill. I'll be just fine; just gotta decide to do it. I've got 8 weeks, which is plenty of time, especially since it's only about 5 miles. I'm not trying to set a PR. I start today.

I went to my Runner's World site to get a training plan, and I realized they now charge a fee for their plans. Guess what Runner's World? Not a chance. I can get one elsewhere or make my own.

I'm off to run some errands. Happy weekend!
